URAT +CME ERROR: Operation not supported

Hello

I upgraded to L0.0.00.00.05.08,A.02.04 on the R410M, and since doing so I’ve been unable to set URAT?

I read elsewhere that I had to set the UMNOPROF, however it is fixed at 2? It returns and OK when I try to change it to 1, but never actually changes. I’n on AT&T anyway.

AT+UMNOPROF=?

+UMNOPROF:
0: SW default
1: SIM ICCID select
2: ATT
6: China Telecom
31: DT
8: Sprint
100: Standard Europe
4: Telstra
21: TELUS
5: TMO
19: Vodafone
3: Verizon

OK
AT+UMNOPROF?

+UMNOPROF: 2

OK
AT+URAT=8

+CME ERROR: Operation not supported

Thanks in Advance
Craig

Hi @craigyb,

Can you try again, but with AT+CFUN=15 after selecting profile 2?

Not all commands are supported in every profile.
It’s not clear which commands are.

To have complete freedom over the commands, I suggest you use profile 100, here you get the default EU settings, but also in profile 100 you have the freedom to change anything.

Best regards,
Jan

Hi @Jan

I’m in the USA using AT&T so I’m not sure if that profile will work. I think I found the answer in the release notes of the latest firmware.

Strangely, AT&T has certified the use of this device for NB-IoT and sold me a SIM card that should be able to do it. Do you have any recommendations of SIMs to try in the USA. I am thinking I’ll try Twilio next… They are allowing NB-IoT on T-Mobile, I think.

Thanks
Craig

Hi @craigyb,

The MNO profile should then be changed to 100 and if you know the used bands for nbiot in at&t then we can update it. It should work with the modified EU profile in the USA.

We used 134742016 as nbiot bandmask, hope that will work also for you.

Best regards,
Jan

Thanks @Jan

Some progress on MNO Profile 100, though I still get error messages when I attempt to modify the bandmask & RAT parameters

Unfotunately, it’s been challenging trying to find the correct person to speak to at AT&T so other than the APN (which is public but hidden in an obsure webpage) it’s hard to get much information.

Thanks again for your help.
Craig

In order to set either the +UMNOPROF, +URAT or +UBANDMASK, you need to first switch off the radio with “AT+CFUN=0”, then apply the setting, then reboot the modem with “AT+CFUN=15”. You need to do this process before and after each individual setting.

e.g. To change the +UMNOPROF and +URAT settings, you will use a sequence like this:

AT+CFUN=0
AT+UMNOPROF=100
AT+CFUN=15
AT+CFUN=0
AT+URAT=8
AT+CFUN=15

Also please note that some +UMNOPROF profiles (e.g. AT&T) do not support changing either the +URAT or +UBANDMASK settings. In these cases you will also get an error if you try and query either value (e.g. “AT+URAT?”).

Also +UMNOPROF=1 does not work with all SIM cards. Some SIM cards the modem can match it to a provider and select the corresponding profile. However, in many cases it is unable to do so, especially with SIM cards from virtual operators.
