Explorer board SMA Footprint

Hello I have the Explorer board Rev. 6C 915
The PCB antenna can be removed to place a SMA connector. I found that the footprint of my board is diferent from other boards, My question is:
With this version of Hardware can I still place SMA connector and use an external antenna instead of the built in PCB antenna?
I would like to use ANT-916-ID-1000-SMA
What are the RF implications if the bottom pins are not connected?
(I’m not really into RF, and I don´t have equipment to check this)

Hi @Xicotencatl,

The SMA connector has 4 ground pins and 1 signal pin.
You can use the connector you bought.
Solder the 3 pins and leave the extra 2 pins not soldered.

Best regards,
Jan
